Masters

2014-2017 : Victoria Johnson (MSc., University of Cape Town) works on the taxonomic revision of the genus Hypnea (Rhodophyta) in South-Africa and the South West Indian Ocean. Co-supervision with J.J. Bolton and R. Anderson. The thesis has been accepted.

2011 : Laury Dijoux (M2, 6 months project - Sciences De l’Univers, Environnement, Ecologie Mention Océanographie et Environnements Marins, Université Pierre et Marie Curie). Project : « Diversity analysis of the genus Halimeda in New Caledonia: morphological and DNA analyses ». The work of Laury Dijoux was published in Journal of Phycology (Dijoux L. Verbruggen H., Mattio L., Duong N. & Payri C.E., 2012. Diversity of Halimeda (Bryopsidales, Chlorophyta) in New Caledonia: a combined morphological and molecular study. Journal of Phycology 48: 1465–1481).

2010 : Claire Ferret (M2, 6 months project - Sciences de la Mer et du Littoral Mention Sciences Biologiques Marines, Université de Bretagne Occidentale). Project : « Diversity analysis of the genus Dictyota (Phaeophyceae, Dictyotales) in New Caledonia : morphological and DNA analyses ».

PhD theses

2011-2015 : Mark Rothman (University of Cape Town) worked on the ecology and morphological and genetic variation in Laminaria and Ecklonia species (Phaeophyceae) in South Africa. Co-supervision J.J. Bolton and R. Anderson. Two papers have been published.

2011-2014 : Caitlynne Francis (University of Cape Town) worked on the taxonomic revision and biogeography of the genus Laurencia (Rhodophyta) in South Africa and in the South West Indian Ocean. Co-supervision with J.J. Bolton and R. Anderson. One paper has been published.
